[opensuse] unable to connect to network printer

I am unable to connect to a network printer in opensuse 10.2
The printer is an HP 4101 mfp.
I have tried using Yast and Webmin using the printer's ip addresss/port but no joy.
I can ping the printer's ip address.
I get an error using the lpadmin command:
#lpadmin -d 111.222.33.44
lpadmin: Unable to connect to server: Connection refused.
(This is the same error I get using Yast)
The firewall on this machine is turned off.
This machine is dual boot and I can use the printer on the Win XP side.
What can I do?
