By "do this" I mean it can create a virtual machine, which uses a physical partition, not a virtual hard drive. I.e. you can run your preinstalled XP.
I understand from others that Parallels (pay product) can do this quite well on a Mac. Apparently you can run the same install both in OSX virtualized in Parallels, and then booting directly to the same install in bootcamp. Parallels keeps this all straight. Dont' know about Linux.
