Please add your hardware specification (graphics card, monitor or
display). In case you have nVidia or ATI graphics card, please tell us
whether you use opensource drivers (search for "nv" or "radeon" in
/etc/X11/xorg.conf) or whether you have installed drivers form
corresponding company's website.
You should add what refresh rates you have got and what you would like
to set up.
Without these informations, we can only guess, such that you don't have
correctly set-up your monitor informations etc.
