Am back at this after a long time: finally got some spare time to play around again. I think I will have to follow your suggestion Carlos, if I cannot create a zypp source and add it using the suseRegister.conf file (update configuration?). Lets see if I can isolate the patches required, or find another way to cache updates. Does anyone have any idea about using yum/smart to do the same? I plan to look into that soon.
You can use a proxy cache, and set every install to use the same remote server so that it can be chached.
Or, create a local update mirror.
