Make sure that your volue control points to the USB device. You can right clikc
on your volume control and select preferences and try to locate your device.
By the way, you are not providing enough information. You should provide as much
information as you can. for instance are you using gnome or kde? I know more
about gnome, but I am just guessing on kde. I think the above process will work.
