Is nmbd running?
Do you have the firewall open on the appropriate ports? (137:139 and 445
for TCP, 137 for UDP). Are you allowing broadcasts on port 137?
(FW_ALLOW_FW_BROADCAST_INT in /etc/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall2).
