On Sun, 8 Apr 2007 12:12:43 -0500I have noticed that Ctrl-Alt-F10 is used for some sort of status display. Is it possible to move that elsewhere, so that key can be used for another desktop?

From any window manager Ctrl-Alt-F7 is first (default) session, Ctrl-Alt-F8 would be second, etc. The Ctrl-Alt-Fn combination is intercepted by X server, so it works in any window manager.
by /etc/inittab. Most distros, including SuSE use 1-6 as VTs, and 7 as
the first session, but some, such as KNoppix use fewer virtual
terminals. In any case, both the ability to have multiple desktop
sessions as well as virtual terminals is an excellent feature. It also
emphasizes that the GUI runs on tops of the OS which makes Linux (and
BSD, and MacOS, and commercial Unix) extremely powerful.
