I stand immediately corrected--it's the other way round.  After you've read 
the mail, the font shrinks, so if you want to re-open one, it's harder to 
see.  The incoming message list is in a large font that I selected in a 
different window.  I just got a 19" lcd display, so the problem is not so
much so, either.
