OK. DVD works fine on the other machine.
Look for something that degrades quality of transfer, connection cable or
power line to the drive.
Replace the cable for DVD drive, it can be the broken wire, it breaks
sometimes at connector, or it could be some loose pin in connectors, broken
or bad soldered pin on motherboard.
Use another power connector, usually there are some spare hanging in the box.
And check voltage, anyway.
