Fully agreed.
Same here with a 9200 SE, which does not work with the latest ATI
drivers and the old drivers do not work with the current xorg 7.2.

But:
There is definitely no need! 3D with the native Radeon driver works ok
(within the limits of such an "old iron")


If you do need to, then by all means

Yes,  sadly afaik they will  not work with xorg 7.2
