Right, I forgot something. Xgl needs pbuffers for GL applications to
still work in a composited desktop. Unfortunately, the open source
drivers do not yet support this extension (needs a memory manager
rewrite). This is close to being done now.

Actually, a DRI issue. You may call it driver issue ;)
