What's wrong with cookies?

As long as you only allow them to be retrieved by the same site that set
them (an available option in all the browsers I'm familiar with),
there's really nothing being disclosed that was not put there by the
site retrieving them later.

Forbidding cookies just makes a lot of the Web work less well for the
users.
