Your system is using smp unless you tell not to with maxcpu=0 or nosmp.
I didn't know. The default kernel installed didn't have SMP in it's name.
There is no special kernel for single processor systems anymore. The default kernel in 10.2 is smp, but as I can see only dual core systems have problems with 2.6.18.2-34-default and need update to newest.
BTW, there is no more rpms in the directory. I noticed that checking again the links. The same is in ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/kernel/kotd/10.2-x86_64/SL102_BRANCH All files are source.
