[opensuse] GRUB Error 23

While trying to install 10.2, I get the error 23 saying it was having
problems parsing numbers. I searched around and found many references to
this problem, but for the life of me, haven't come up with a solution.
It seems that GRUB doesn't recognize sd0 drives, or something like that.
I have four SATA drives. two 320GB, one 200GB and one 250GB which are
RAID'd together.
I managed to install another distro and got its bootloader to install,
so I know it can be done. The question is, can it be done with openSuSe?
This is a dual-boot system by the way with XP.
TIA
Too many people spend money they haven't earned to buy things they don't want, to impress people they don't like.
