Hi, Just after DVD installation, I switched to internet repositories. Then I added Packman repositories.
Say I want to install aMule (from packman). One problem is the time spent before installation is complete. When launching the software installation tool, it builds a kind of installable software list. Ok. But it seems (as I see the time spent) to build it EACH time I launch it! Wouldn't it be faster to cache the list somewhere? Then when search for the package to install, it is very slow again. I have a decent CPU (2GHz, Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM) architecture, I think something really need to be donne on this thing. Don't you think?
Or is it a my-side problem?
I definitely agree. The software updater is down there in the try all day long. Why can't it take care of these tasks in the background so that when you wanted to update it would have all the information it needed already in hand? -- _____________________________________ John Andersen
