You can either delete the Cache directory - it will get recreated when
FF is next started - or delete *all* the files in that directory. Try it
and see if this clears the problem.

I tried that before posting. No luck.

OK, so it's something else.

It's also unlikely multiple people would have it crashing because of the cache.

Not quite so :-) , in fact more than possible because the people could have gone to the same site - or similarly configured sites - and Cached a badly coded page which is then causing the problem everytime they go to that site. If you read the mozilla.org ('private') Firefox newsgroup you will find clearing the Cache is a reasonably common way of fixing problems.

Cheers.

Further, a bug in the cache handling in 2.0.0.2pre (i.e. an incompatibility with 2.0.0.1) could have been causing a problem. Allowing 2.0.0.2pre to create it's own cache would have been a valid workaround. It may well yet be shown that there is a similar problem with some other part of the handling of profiles.
