Hi, the problem is that absolutely nothing is happening. I am using Gnome as a GUI and after I insert a DVD nothing happens, no Nautilus pops up or anything in that way. Even stranger is that if I look at "computer:///" I see the icon for the file system and for the network. Usually the CD-RW/DVD-RW icon can be found there too. In the moment I insert a DVD the icon for the CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive disappears. If I insert a CD all works quite normal. The CD-RW/DVD-RW icons does not disappear and after a second a new nautilus window pops up and shows me the content of the CD. BUT, as I posted before, I can mount DVDs (and read them) if I use the 'mount' command in the console. I can type in 'mount /dev/hdb /mnt' and after that there is no problem reading the content of the DVD (in the /mnt directory) via nautilus. Sebastian

it seems I got a (pretty strange) problem with my CD/DVD Burner. If I look into the hardware-information of YAST the drive is identified as DVD_RW_IDE1108 and all seems ok. The strange problem, now, is that I can only read CDs but no DVDs.
What exactly happens when you insert a dvd? Does it pop up a new Kong window?
When you say you can't read a dvd, what are the exact symptoms?
Also, in Kde Configure Desktop, Personal Settings, Peripherals Storage Media Notifications tab Medium Types set to Unmounted DVD
What functions are listed in the white box (Mine has open in a new window and Do Nothing).
