? By blanking the screen. In other words, instead of selecting a screen screen saver (random is the default in Suse), select blank. The problem here is that everyone has their own solution... for instance, power management controls try to solve the problem, the hardware itself tries to solve the problem, the screen saver software tries to solve the problem... KDE tries to solve the problem, and sometimes the solutions step on each other's toes... :-} The bottom line for LCD is that the less time the CCFL is lit, the better. Blanking the screen is the way to do this when the display is not being used.
