Hi all, Well, I've found the (a?) problem with my shiny new laptop. Whenever I logout, or shutdown, the system crashes and locks up. I have to hold the power button down to kill it, and then I'll have a few hundred journal entries replayed when I restart. Up to this point (I don't logout or shutdown very often!) I had noticed it crash under some conditions during a screen resolution change. Specifically, if I did the "test server" option of SaX2, it will always crash. However, the screen changes resolution happily enough if I simply select new resolutions from the Gnome control center configuration window. I have, however, no idea if these are related. The system is a Toshiba Satellite A105 S4324 laptop, with Intel Centrino Duo 2 CPU, running SuSE 10.1 64bit. Any suggestions? Indeed any suggestions on how to debug this? I have to assume that it's some process or other that hangs on shutdown, so perhaps if I can work out which process, then I could arrange either never to run it, or to find/watch for an upgraded version, or try never to let it quit!
