Done a fresh install on another disk drive and sound now works "out of the box" Guess it did not like just upgrading and regular X86-64 to SMP X86_64 kernel. Art On Sun, 2006-10-01 at 20:54 +0800, Art Fore wrote:
I have a MSI K9N Neo motherboard with Athelo 64 dual core processor running smp kernel 2.6.16-25. I upgraded the Alsa programs to 1.0.13. Searched the internet and tried everything I found there, But still have problem installing Sound card with Yast. I get the following error:
An error occurred during the installation of MCP55 High Definition Audio. The kernel module snd-hda-intel for sound support could not be loaded. This can be caused by incorrect module parameter, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
Opening the Hardware, Sound, it shows two cards, A8V Deluxe Motherboard (Realtek ALC850 codec) This is the previous motherboard that was working, but I cannot delete this one.
Not configured MCP55 High Definition Audio, which I have not been able to edit and install. Always get the error mentioned above whether Automatic, Normal, or Advanced setupo.
lsmod shows snd-hda-intel is loaded.

Does anyone have some wise words as to why this card will not install? Is there some configuration I need to make that I have not found?
Forgot to mention, this is the same except for the interrupt # whether ACPI is on or off.
