SCSI adaptor compatibility

SuSE 10.0, Kernel 2.6.13
I've found out 'the hard way' that my old Advansys ABP940U PCI SCSI adaptor is not compatible with this installation (but might be under 2.6.17).
Can anyone tell me if the Adaptec 2904 adaptor will work with my existing system? (I've looked at the charts on the SuSE web site but they don't seem to be up-to-date)

Alternatively, anyone know when Kernel 2.6.17 will be available on SuSE 10.0?
