Tip 2: please define (make/model/specs) of the external "standard LCD"
Any standard LCD, either 17", 14", whatever. Think about an LCD that is capable of 1024x768@60Hz.
Tip 3: please explain what you mean by "still doesn't work at all" (think error and log messages as well as describing problematic behaviors.)
There are no error mesages. It simply loads the screens, I get a signal on the external LCD, but it says "resolution 1280x800 not supported" (again, the error is on the LCD, the system yelds nothing at all).
of course it says that. your notebook has a widescreen-display with an aspect-ratio of 16:10 and a resolution of 1280x800. and you try to use that screenmode (1280x800) on the external monitor. but if you don't use an external monitor which also has an aspect-ratio of 16:10 and a resolution of 1280x800 it will reject of displaying that mode. you can do the following: a) use an external widescreen monitor (16:10) b) use the mode 1024x768 on both screens. c) use an external crt monitor (no LCD) d) try to configure your xorg.conf to use different modes on the two displays, but not different content. you should remove or comment out all "xinerama" options in your xorg.conf. -- einen schönen Tag noch DI Rainer Klier Abteilung IT - Entwicklung ECOLOG Logistiksysteme GmbH Bauernstraße 11, A-4600 Wels Tel. ++43/7242/66200 Fax ++43/7242/66200-200 mailto:kra@ecolog.at http://www.ecolog.at --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
