James, Bind is bulletproof, but it is a PITA to get set up the first time. The syntax takes a little patients to get used to. (i.e. trailing "dot" or "no dot") My favorite setup is to have the server run bind and dhcpd with dhcpd doing dynamic updates to the DNS zones. One useful link is: http://www.madboa.com/geek/soho-bind/ Don't forget the the Bind9 administrator manual link at the bottom of the page. Here, as an example, is my forward zone: nemesis:/home/david # cat /var/lib/named/dyn/3111skyline.com $ORIGIN . $TTL 172800 ; 2 days 3111skyline.com IN SOA nemesis.3111skyline.com. root.3111skyline.com.
