This might be the same problem I am having. I never thought of the firewall since I could manually download the files without a problem. I will try it at home tonight and confirm if this might be the case. I only seem to be having problems with packman though.
Hmm..I wonder. I had been following your thread with interest, and was curious as to the source of your issues. Do try this and let us know. I just got to work and gave SMART a shot (after opeining up my bluecoat credentials).
