It's only OK for the originator of the message to do this,
not just anybody!
... but yes, if you don't look at the recipient fields of
the message you're about to send before you send it, this
sort of thing might happen.
Even worse, if you don't check the recipient fields, you
might send a private reply to a poster to the list, rather
than to the list itself ;)
