Just to confirm, I am using the bcm43xx module with the 2.6.17 kernel and it all works fine except for a problem I have with getting it to start automatically at boot time (I guess I should start another thread about that). But Jerry is right, before you start worrying about whether your adapter is configured correctly you should try and find out as much as possible about how your access point is set up.
