Absolutely Yes.
Boot the DVD.
Move cursor down to Installation
Press F3
You will then get a list of options associated with function keys f1 - f6.
F6 lets you install 32-bit.
I'll defer the VMWare answer to someone who may know.
Most likely on your system, you should not have a difficulty with running a
32-bit system.
