Yes, there will always be hardware+software mixes, and more of them
every year. Its not going away any time soon, and its silly to suggest
that this marriage of device and code is the problem.

The problem is providing for ONLY one platform.

That practice will end the day the federal government either drags the first
video board or electronic gadget maker into court for illegal restraint of
trade, or announces (ad did Taiwan) that failure to deliver drivers for all
platforms will mean loss of government sales.
