Two things to try:
a) Amarok doesn't have a built-in option to set the sound buffer size,
but KDE's sound system does. Use the KDE Control Center and increase
the size of your audio buffer. K Button --> Personal Settings -->
Sound/Multimedia --> Sound System.
b) Try another player, just to see if it still pauses. If it doesn't,
the problem is probably with Amarok.
If neither of those works, the problem is lower level, possibly with
Alsa. If that is the case, you'll need to do more investigation. But
try (a) and (b) first to rule out that option.
