I have downloaded SMART and installed it on opensuse 10.1, when packages are installed or updated the rpm files are downloaded to /var/lib/smart/packages. I want to know if it is possible to move the storage location inside of the program or is it hardwired to /var/lib/smart/packages.
The reason, I have several computers on a local lan and all are (for the most part, some minor differences in applications) identical. When I run smart update on the various machines I find my self downloading the same packages multiple times. When I used fedora and yum, I set yum to look at an nfs mount called yumpackages, all of the machines would look at that location and realize the files had already been downloaded and did have to do it again. This approach save considerable time and bandwidth.

Why not just continue to use YUM then or KYum, the gui for what you want to do. Suse uses yum as well. Makes sense to use what you are most familiar with, doesn't it? regards, Lee
