Hello!

Yesterday packman offered alsa-packages: Update Version: 1.0.12-0.pm.0.
These break the sound at least for snd_intel8x0 and via82xx.

seq_hw.c:457:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such file or
directory

So those that feel lucky can try. Those who already updated can revert back
using YaST's software-management. I think that zmd-guis do not support any
refresh or reverting, just plain install/remove/update.

Sven,

I experienced the same problem. Using the 10.1 install DVD, I reverted to "alsa-1.0.11-32" and my system was immediately able to recognize my Audigy sound card once more and all is back to normal.

See my earlier message. The alsa package has been upgraded (but still named 1.0.12) and it has fixed the problem- the sound is back to normal.

Cheers.
