Why would you have to open the case for that? What kind of partitioning
were you planning? 2by4 with sheet rock?

If you can bet it to boot from the CD, (even if install fails) you can run
the partitioner from there. You can bring up interfaces, and copy the
iso image from your other machine.

You can also install directly from the other machine's DVD drive or
hard drive with nfs. You can also install direct from opensuse.org.
