Unfortunately, nothing ...

I tried rcpcscd status was unused. Started it but made no difference.
Man and config files indicate it is *not* for usb :^(

Not yet, but reinstall is looking necessary. It still may be a missing
kernel module, usblp got the printer recognized.
Again, funny that the usb detection will *not* complete with the usb
Epson 2400 scanner attached.
I still do not understand why the usb modules were not present in the
installed kernel ???
