That's why.

GMail will only relay the most recent headers it receives. It does
_not_, _however_ handle/honor many of them itself. That includes _not_
tracking and threading by Message-ID.

GMail breaks more mail standards than the most non-IETF compliant mail
readers. Google reminds me _exactly_ of another company some 15-20
years ago.
