Hi all.

I am new to SUSE and 2.6 kernels in particular....I installed an USB
touchscreen driver....It installed fine and it also works as
expected.....the first thing i need to do is to configure or calibrate the
touchscreen driver...i was able to do tht without any problem....and the
driver works fine with the new configuration settings......but if i reboot
all the new configuration settings are lost.....and they r going back to the
original settings...The same driver works perfect on a Redhat System.....

I was going thru the SUSE reference manual and i observed that "/dev" is
mounted on a tempfs....and tht all the drivers are rebuilt from scratch on
reboot.....i guess this udev concept is something new in 2.6 kernels
compared to 2.4....i believe tht is the reason for my problem...how can i
get over this????.......I am using SUSE 10.0....In SUSE10.1 i believe there
is a provision to place the static modules......where all the changes
prevail...i guess by placing the modules in "/lib/udev/devices/".....but
there is no such provision in case of SUSE10.0........

Any help would be appreciated....
