Hi Steve,
Is there anyway I can convert DVD's (movies) into something I can edit? Or is there a way of editing them as is?
Try http://www.doom9.org/ . Also try avidemux2 home page. http://avidemux.sourceforge.net/
Both of them have nice tutorials.
TIA Steve.
Rui
Hi Rui
I went through the tutorial. Everything worked as per the instructions but on trying to play back the saved .avi file I get:
AVI: Missing video strem!? Contact the author, it may be a bug :(
Any ideas?
OTOH if I simply copy the file called:
vts_01_1.vob
from the mini DVD it loads and plays fine. I cannot however edit it.
Any ideas? Cheers, Steve.
(maybe I should copy this to the list too?)
I can give you an example on how to convert an mpeg to avi using xvid codec.
1. Open avidemux2 2. Click open and select .vob file ( you can add more if you want to ). 3. On Video, select xvid4. I will not go through the configure and filter options. 4. On Audio, you can select a number of audio codecs. If you are going for quality try the FFm AC3 codec. If you are going for size try the Lame codec. 5. On Format Select avi 6. Click save as and type the file name.
Let me know if all worked...
Hi Rui. I get a .avi file but it crashes Mplayer. Will try with the other audio codec you mentioned unless you have any more ideas. Thanks for all your help. I'll get there in the end.
