grrrrr, at last.. the last time I pressed the wrong button and replied to
the wrong message.
I use SuSE 9.3 and I update the system with apt-get:

I had the very same problem, about 2 or 4 months ago when I updated Amarok, so I can't remember exactly which package I installed, sorry but I guess is this one:
linux:/home/ikari # rpm -q flac
flac-1.1.1-5
Hope this can guide you a little.

I am sorry to bother you, but I have the same problem, even with xine engine.
