HI Shriramana,
I tried the xorg7 repository too, and it would have broken my
installation completely. Not only are the new packages mostly installed
into /usr instead of /usr/X11R6, they also don't seem to have any
rpm-tags for the XFree86 libs, which are required by quite a few of the
older libs and programs installed on my pc.

Generally, if you want to get around the dependencies, either ignore
them or recompile the "complaining" packages. In your case that would
be the OpenOffice package (and it is a b**** to compile).
