I use Storix Desktop. It does a good job of doing a bare metal restore. As
a matter of fact, you can supposedly even restore to different hardware and
it will make the necessary adjustments. You can also make partition
modifications, change the file system, and a do a number of other things at
restore time. Their email support is also quite good. The only issue I've
had with a recovery is that you end up with a slightly modified grub menu,
but it saves your original one off to the side so that you can re-install it
after the restore finishes (It also supports LILO). It costs $99.
