It is the pgp signature of the Email Carlos wrote. It is not an
"encyrption thing" as you didn't need it to decrypt to be able to read
it. It basicly gives you the possibility to check if the content of the
email from Carlos has been changed on the transport to your mailbox. You
would need the public key from him to check that. Have a look at for a
start.
