OK. But a which gcc_4.1 installation phase can I rename the binaries ? Why you need to change the name?
Usually rpm files are pre-compiled. I won't have control on the source code therefore on the binary code.
Sorry, I don't understand you. When you compiles a program using gcc_41 packages you will get the binary named as you want, depending of your make command, in the same way you would done using gcc 3.x compiler. Guillermo
Thank you, Maura

OK. Thanks. How shall I uninstall the current 3.x gcc version ? Is there any reason why I should keep old and new versions ?
What you name 'old' is actually the compiler of your SuSE distribution. The 'new' is a secondary compiler.
I only would uninstall the 3.x version if I have no more disk space.
Guillermo
My laptop has limited disk capacity ...
Thanks for all your help.
