So buy them from a ( print) company not your bank. Round here you can
get them printed on safety paper, and w/ all manor of backgrounds for
less than a penny a piece most week ends. The *Sunday* paper has lots
of ads for those things , depending on how much or how little you wish
to plunk out at one time... you at least have the "protection" of
safety paper. That way if some yo rips off your mailbox and gets your
monthly payoffs to whomever you pay bills , he can't change the amount
of payment, or indeed the name of the payee... and IIRC the most recent
innovations, he can't "launder" ( literally in a dip of chemicals ) and
then use your check which has your account number etc printed by your
computer ... to loot said account of any cash available.
Until that (type) paper is available to computer users, this is one of
those "pay the man the $2 " deals.. what you save is much less than you
think.
Although if you are that cheap, why aren't you using "online" bill
pay ??? no check, no charge.. at least not yet at most banks.
