WOW! I been waiting but I guess it time to download RC1 and kick the times. http://desktoplinux.com/articles/AT5607269029.html
I can't believe he's talking about the same distro I've got installed, nothing that I've tested works.. Here's a summary of my experiences, it's so bad I don't even know where to begin bugreporting..
Obviously I'm not the most technically savvy user - but nothing's working smoothly for me - nothing! Especially things having to do with the new stuff: networkmanager, mounting system and packagemanager.
- (K)Networkmanager won't connect using wpa-psk encryption (broadcom chipset using ndiswrapper). I can't use "Ifup" as my wireless card has disappeared completely from the YaST NIC-module. I'm aware ndiswrapper is a mess of course - but it's been working pretty well with 10.0.
There were some fixes for this in RC1.
- My computer / Sysinfo:/ won't mount my other partitions (this one I did report). It won't mount floppies correctly either this I've reported too.
- When adding repos to rug they seem to disappear again after reboot.
We just fixed a race here, an updated zmd will be in RC2.
- YaST is extremely slow when adding installation sources and starting sw_single. y2base using about 300 megs of memory. When adding installation sources I constantly get a warning about unknown gpg-key - but since I trust Pascal and Packman I choose "use anyway" - but I get the error a couple of times more until the adding fails completely.
The keys should be fixed now.
- Usually I have been able to set up a samba server with the yast module by selecting a directory and adding the options "browsable" and "guest ok" to the default options - thus making the smb-server visible and accessible to everyone - but I can't get the thing to stop asking for passwords with 10.1. I even copied smb.conf and smbpasswd from 10.0 (which allows access without prompting for a password) to my 10.1rc1 - but on 10.1 it still asks for a password - even with my 10.0 - after restarting samba and rebooting and everything. I tried comparing the confs too - and can't see any difference - but I can't access my samba server on 10.1 - also I don't have the faintest idea what the password is - I certainly never defined any.
Please report this.
- Beaglein was the most ressource using proces in top for the first 20 mins. after first boot - without me ever telling the daemon to start (through Kerry).
