The 9.2 kernel will have problems with nforce4 based boards, but it will probably also have problems with nforce3 based boards. And you should keep in mind that maintenance for 9.2 will end in approximately half a year (if I've calculated correctly).

9.0 support ended last week. 9.1 support is dicontinued at the end of June 2006 so I'm guessing that 9.2 support is dicontinued at the end of December 2006 or January 2007 time frame.
