saving emails in kmail

Apart from creating another folder in kmail and moving old messages to that
folder, how is it done. If I create a folder in my home directory and choose
in kmail > file > save as. All is ok until you get another with the same
subject line which, with my personal emails from family can be often. Or is
the first option above the proper way to do it.
