Permission denied?? I can see three possibilities: You either - try to install it as a regular user, not as root - install it on a file system mounted read only - install it on a corrupt file system that needs an fsck If the first, su to root If the second, remount to read/write (mount -o remount,rw) If the third, reboot to the rescue system on the installation CD and run fsck on the partition (or run the 'repair system' thing in the installer
