I have the same problem. It may be in digital/analog transmission of audio data, i'm not sure though. It seems to me that cd-players play analog audio by default. To do that properly they need cd-rom to be connected with sound card with audio cable. This cable is shipped with almost every cd-reading device (consists of three thin wires). And I own one. But... ;-) I don't have time to plug it... (I'm using hi-fi to play cds)
Besides that I am also not able to play mp3 in SUSE. It seems that the players require a plugin to play the mp3 files. Where can I find the mp3 plugin for SUSE Specific??
http://packman.links2linux.org You need "almost everything" in the multimedia category that has "mad" in its name. E.g. if you are using xmms then probably you'll want: multimedia -> xmms -> xmms-lib-mad and probably xmms itself along with xmms-lib. Good luck, Roma.
