I am trying to compile dbus which uses gcj to compile one part of it. It fails to compile the .a file (i.e. libdbus-gcj-1.a) which appears to be some kind of archive. It compiles the .la, .so, .o files fine. Is there an argument that it needs to produce the .a file? BTW, this is on 9.3. My compile configures and makes fine, but fails in the install stage (actually I am building it as an rpm). This is on x86_64 if that makes a difference. This must be the first package I have ever needed that used this compiler before, so I am not sure sure if I am doing something wrong, or there is a bug in the compiler in 9.3, or what is going wrong. Thanks for any insight to help track down this problem. -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871
