I have new ViewSonic LCD monitor VP2130 and it doesn't work under suse 8.2 in graphical mode. Using Sax2 in text mode and the old monitor I can set monitor to LCD 1600x1200, 60 HZ (correct values) and when LCD monitor is connected (still in text mode) values are changed (by suse ) to VESA 1600x1200 75 HZ. 75HZ is to high and then when option 'Change' is selected Sax2 starts graphical mode and monitor displays massage 'Out of Range'. I tested this monitor on my laptop with suse 10.0 and it works fine, but at the moment I consider upgrade from suse 8.2 to suse 10.0 only as the last resort. Any ideas?
In you xorg.conf (XF86Config), in the section "Screen" there should be a line like:
Option "CalcAlgorithm" "CheckDesktopGeometry"
Remove this and it should be working.... At least at my machine it did... (Waaaaaaaaay back)
