I installed beta4 on PIII 900 mhz, 256 megs ram, 4200 rpm hd, and pretty slow cd-rom drive too - took 1½-2 hrs. So I don't think you're asking too much - if it were a final/stable that is. Seems to be a lot of people mentioning very slow installs and problems with memory/high swap usage.. guess something isn't working a 100% - might be related to the new package manager I guess..
